Students Serving at The Creek

There is no doubt that one of the greatest joys in student ministry is witnessing student’s “activate their faith” by serving the Kingdom. It’s incredibly impacting to watch a young person so committed to Jesus that they choose to serve Him.

Watching students serve Jesus is certainly one of the joys of getting to do student ministry at The Creek. We have many students who go on service and mission trips throughout the year. In addition to mission trips and special projects there are countless students who serve every week on Sunday mornings here at The Creek and throughout the week at local ministries in our city. If you’ve seen one of our students playing with the two year olds in the nursery, helping teach in the preschool or set up for Kid’s Rock you know the impact that students who serve can have. If you haven’t seen students serving at The Creek you should look on Sunday, it will certainly challenge you to think how you can activate your faith!

Activate

On Sunday mornings at The Creek you will see that high school students are a vital part of every aspect of ministry. We encourage students to “Activate your Faith” by serving on Sunday morning. Below is a list of service opportunities. To get started simply contact the appropriate ministry leader and fill out a volunteer application.

Momentum (5 – 8 grade):

During the 9:30a.m. and 11:00a.m. hour we will be using high school students to help facilitate round table discussions following the message. There will be questions/discussion starters provided and your job is to help them understand the topic/scripture that was presented from stage. The tables will be divided by age and gender. You will develop relationships with the students at your table in a mentorship capacity. To get started contact Mike Killebrew at 317.862.6430 or mikekillebrew@thecreek.org

Kids ROCK (K - 4 grade):

This Sunday morning environment is for elementary-aged kids that includes an engaging large group gathering for worship and teaching, alongside a more personal small group time with volunteer leaders. Volunteer opportunities are available during the 9:30a.m. and 11:00a.m. service times. To get started contact Mark White at 317.862.6430 or markwhite@thecreek.org

Host/Greeter: Welcome children into Kids ROCK upon their arrival. Be available to address questions families may have or direct those questions to another Kids ROCK volunteer. Also, new children can be escorted to their classrooms by the host/greeter and connected with a classroom volunteer and/or another child within the classroom.

Your role, as a student volunteer, will include activities such as: playing with the kids during free play time, helping to complete an occasional puzzle, helping to hand out supplies and snacks, and assisting in clean up. Nursery:

We are looking for fun and loving students who like to invest in the lives of the youngest kids at The Creek. Whether you like to rock babies or play with a toddler we have a place for you to serve. Our time in the nursery is spent mainly just playing and hanging out with the kids. If you want to revisit your childhood and play with some cool toys, then this is the job for you! Access Disability Ministry

Buddy Program: Buddy's are volunteers who are paired with a child with a disability in the Nursery, Preschool or Kids ROCK Sunday programs. These buddies help the child with special needs by providing one on one assistance in their Sunday morning class. Individualized training is provided and volunteers can assist from two to four times a month.

P.E.E.Rs (promoting enriching, encouraging, relationships): Access is looking for individuals who are interested in being part of an intentional peer group for middle or high school kids with special needs that are involved in either the Sunday morning or evening youth activities at the church. These groups would consist of a team of kids who would be partnered with one other student with a disability. They would have the opportunity to get to know the individual better and be the ones that would greet them and make them feel welcome at the various middle or high school activities.

Parent's Night Out and Breakaway Ministry events: These are respite events held on either Friday or Saturday evenings for kids and young adults with disabilities. Volunteers are paired up to provide assistance as well as fun and friendship for these individuals and their families.  Please contact Angela Huffman for more information or to volunteer.

Greeters

The Greeting Ministry is utilized on Sunday mornings, as well as at a number of other special events. Greeters at The Creek welcome guests, hand out bulletins, act as the front line of information, and make it their job to put people at ease and be of assistance to all those who enter The Creek’s church building. To get started contact Shan Caldwell or at 317.862.6430.

Welcome Centers

The Welcome Center Ministry not only answers questions for those who need information, but they encourage guests and members alike.
