Radiate

It’s hurricane season and this year is projected to be one of the worst for the number of hurricanes that strike along America’s southern coast. It was just a few years ago when Hurricane Isabel made front-page news as it rampaged through the mid-Atlantic states, coming ashore with all its fury near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, site of one of America's most famous lighthouses.

When the storm hit Cape Hatteras, oceanfront houses were swept off from their foundations; even an entire hotel complex was lifted by the storm and deposited in the middle of a street. Debris from destroyed buildings littered the island. But the ever-famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse remained standing—and shining!

So should we. Jesus called us to be “the light of the world.” Wherever we live, we’re to stand strong—and shine—bring the light of hope to every neighborhood in which we live. It’s time to radiate.
